Origins of the Name, Sora

Sora no Hono.

The name itself can be translated roughly into 'Skyflame' or 'Sky of the Flame'. Regardless, it's how I've identified myself ever since I became inspired by its origins. The sky, it's vast and seems rather lonely, but after awhile you realize it isn't. Since someone out there in the world is watching the same skies you are and then you know, you aren't as alone as you thought.

Life doesn't seem as hollow as before.

My friend LLM (Long Live Marshmallows), was the first person to question why I called myself "Sora no Hono". Since every name has a story behind it, correct? My name is no different. Although, at that time and place, I wasn't quite certain myself why I picked the name. The only initial idea I had for Sora no Hono came from my favorite anime/manga, Katekyo Hitman Reborn (KHR).

In KHR, there are these powers called "flames" which are used to fight in the KHR world through the "dying will". There are many different types of flames but the most famously known are the sky flames which are Sky, Storm, Rain, Sun, Lighting, Mist, and Cloud, each of these flames have their own special ability. Flames are used in fights by thinking about your resolve. What is your resolution? What will you do with your dying will? What would you give everything up to achieve that one goal?

At the time, these questions plagued my thoughts and it wasn't until during one of my more darker moments did I really think about them. LLM had been the one who ask the questions and each question she asked struck a core within me and help me regain my resolve. But it also made me think, what did Sora no Hono really mean?

The Sky, is a vast sky, enveloping and engulfing all around it, it is...harmony.

Of course none of this came to mind when I choose my name, in fact a lot of these events and thoughts didn't really come to me until later and now. But, it makes sense. It was, what I was thinking loosely when choosing my name on here. I thought, "Flames? What about sky?"

I love looking at the sky, pondering about life when looking into it's beautiful layers one on top of another. It reminded me the reason I'm still alive, my resolve, and I thought I always connected with the main character Tsunayoshi Sawada, so why not?

And so,

Sora no Hono was born.
